The Monash College Diploma of Arts offers a strong foundation in communication, journalism and psychology. It is the perfect pathway to take you into an Arts degree from the diverse, popular and exciting Faculty of Arts at Monash.

Course structure

You must successfully complete 16 units to achieve a Diploma of Arts. This includes 15 compulsory units and one elective unit.

In Part 2 of the Diploma, you will choose between two streams:

  • Human Behaviour
  • Psychology.

The Psychology stream is only offered in Australia.

Course duration

  • Part 1 consists of two trimesters over 8 months
  • Part 2 consists of two trimesters over 8 months.

Age requirements

When you enrol, you must be at least:

  • 16 years for Part 1
  • 17 years for Part 2.

If you do not meet the age requirement, you may be offered a deferred place.

Academic requirements

You will enter the diploma at Part 1 or Part 2 depending on your entry scores.

Academic entry scores for a diploma program differ according to:

  • highest education qualification
  • previous academic result
  • the country you are applying from.

Highest Education Qualification

The minimum entry requirements for the diploma programs are:

  • Part 1 - Australian Year 11 or equivalent
  • Part 2 - Australian Year 12 or equivalent.

English language requirements

English language requirements can be met if English was the language of instruction in secondary studies and an approved English language subject was completed at:

  • Year 11 (at least C Grade or 60 per cent)
  • Year 12 (VCE units 3 & 4 with a study score of at least English 25 or ESL 30).

Domestic Students need to apply through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) for entry into a Monash University bachelor degree program.
