Destination degrees

Your destination degree is the Monash University degree that you want to study after your diploma.

Once you have successfully completed your diploma, you will have guaranteed entry into second year of an undergraduate degree at Monash University. Remember that you must meet the entry requirements and subject prerequisites.

How to calculate your diploma score

Diploma of Arts

Domestic students: Sum of part 2 unit marks/number of part 2 units attempted = average mark. (Any fail results are included in the average calculation.)

International students: Sum of passed part 2 unit marks, divided by the number of part 2 units = average mark.

Diploma of Art & Design and Diploma of Business

Sum of part 2 unit marks/number of part 2 units attempted = average mark. (Any fail results are included in the average calculation.)

Architecture Studio 1, Communication Design 1, Communication Design 2 and Theory D have 12 credit points. Their marks are doubled in the calculation and counted as two units.

Diploma of Engineering and Diploma of Science

Applies to students who commenced their Diploma studies prior to Semester 2, 2017:
(Sum of part 2 passed units + sum of part 2 non-repeat fail units) minus 10% for each repeat fail. Divided by (number of part 2 passed units + number of part 2 non-repeat fail units).

Applies to students who commenced their Diploma studies in Semester 2, 2017 and onward:
Sum of part 2 unit marks/number of part 2 units attempted = average mark. (Any fail results are included in the average calculation.)

Important information

  • International students are guaranteed entry into second year after successfully completing part 2 if they achieve the minimum entry requirements. The choice of individual disciplines is subject to available places.
  • Engineering students may may be required to study additional first year units to complete the degree program.

  • Education specialisation: After completing the education specialisation you will be eligible for the education double degree relevant to your primary diploma: Education (Honours) and Arts, Education (Honours) and Business, Education (Honours) and Commerce, Education (Honours) and Science.
  • Different degrees have different requirements and durations. The score required for double degrees is often higher than a single degree. Make sure you check what diploma score you need before starting the education specialisation.
  • Domestic students: Meeting the minimum average grade indicated above does not guarantee a CSP. If you are a domestic student, you need to apply through VTAC for entry into a Monash University bachelor degree program. If you are applying for University mid-year intake, please contact your Diploma team leader for details on the application process.
