English Language Bridging Program (ELBP) for Diploma

The English Language Bridging Program (ELBP) for Diplomas is for students who have narrowly missed the English language requirements for direct entry into Part 1 or Part 2 of a Monash College Diploma.

Classes will prepare you for successful study during your Diploma through improving your skills in academic reading, writing, speaking, listening, note taking and research.

After successful completion of this course, you will meet the English Language requirements for Monash College Diploma courses.

Course duration

There are two options for the ELBP for Diplomas, depending on your English test scores and which part of the Diploma you will enter:

  • 15 week program
  • 10 week program.

Study load

The weekly study load is 35 hours with:

  • 20 hours tuition in class hours
  • 15 hours independent study outside class hours (including five hours in the Independent Learning Centre).

Location

To enter the Monash College ELBP for Diplomas you must have received a conditional offer and meet the following minimum requirements.

Entry to Monash College Diploma Part 1 (15 weeks)

  • IELTS: 5.0, writing 5.0
  • TOEFL paper-based: 500, TWE 4.0
  • TOEFL iBT: Overall 61, writing 17.

Entry to Monash College Diploma Part 2 (15 weeks)

  • IELTS: 5.0, writing 5.0
  • TOEFL paper-based: 500, TWE 4.0
  • TOEFL iBT: Overall 61, writing 17.

Entry to Monash College Diploma Part 2 (10 weeks)

  • IELTS: 5.5, writing 5.5
  • TOEFL paper-based: 527, TWE 4.5
  • TOEFL iBT: Overall 71, writing 18.

Your letter of offer will tell you when your course starts and how long it will last. Your current English test scores will determine whether you are offered a 10 or 15 week program.

After you successfully complete ELBP for Foundation Year, you will have:
