English Language Courses

Understanding which course is right for you

We offer two types of English Language programs:
  • bridging programs (for conditional offers to Monash College or Monash University)
  • specialised English programs.

Bridging programs

Our English language bridging programs provide students with a guaranteed entry into their chosen Monash College or Monash University course. Specific programs are designed for students who have narrowly missed the English Language requirements for direct entry into their chosen course. Classes will prepare you for successful future study by improving your skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, note taking and research.

Your intended Monash course Your English Language Bridging Program (ELBP)
The Monash University Foundation Year ELBP for Foundation Year
A Monash College Diploma ELBP for Diploma
A Monash University undergraduate course ELBP for undergraduate
A Monash University postgraduate course ELBP for postgraduate

Your Letter of Offer will tell you if you are required to complete an English Language Bridging Program. The type of program will depend on what you are intending to study.

Specialised English programs

English for Academic Preparation is offered to students whose English language proficiency is below the bridging program entry requirements. After successful completion, you may be eligible for entry into a corresponding bridging program.

IELTS preparation will specifically prepare you for sitting an IELTS English Language test. You do not have to be a Monash College student to enrol.

Introductory Academic Preparation is a popular course for students wishing to prepare themselves further for the cultural, social and academic expectations of Australian study.
