Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) is a highly respected, full-time program over four weeks that leads to the best known certificate of its kind in the world. Monash College is accredited to conduct this program by Cambridge University.

Successful candidates can choose from a wide range of employment choices both internationally and in Australia. All candidates will have real-life teaching practice and the course is focussed on providing practical teaching skills.

Course duration: four weeks

Study load: full time daily from Monday to Friday. Classes are held between 9am and 5.30pm.

All candidates must be:

  • at least 20 years old
  • educated to a level that would allow for tertiary study in their country of origin
  • proficient enough in English to successfully complete the course.

To apply you must:

  • submit a written application including a Language Awareness Task
  • be interviewed by a course tutor.

After you successfully complete the CELTA course, you will have skills in:

  • planning and preparing effective English classes for adult learners
  • analysing language usage
  • understanding and responding to the needs of learners
  • delivering effective and interactive lessons
  • managing a classroom
  • using published ESL materials
  • creating customised material to better suit your learners
  • writing résumés and applying for employment overseas.
There are no specific destination degrees relevant to this qualification. Outcomes are employment focused.
