Eligibility

If you are thinking about becoming a homestay host, check that you can meet the eligibility criteria below.

Complete the checklist below:

• We only speak English at home.
• We can provide our student with three meals every day.
• We will spend time with our student so they can learn more about Australian culture.
• We live within 50 minutes public transport travel time of a Monash campus(Caulfield, Clayton, Melbourne CBD, Parkville, Berwick or Peninsula)and we have checked the travel time using the Metlink Journey Planner.
• We have a spare bedroom within the family home that has been set up with a bed, desk, lamp, chair and clothes storage.
• We will give our student access to the phone and internet(pdf 131kb), given that they will fully reimburse us for the costs.
• Our home is fitted with smoke alarms.
• Every member of our household aged 18 and over has a current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
• We have our landlord's approval to host (if we rent) or we own our home.

• Family name

• Post code
• Mobile telephone
• Home telephone
• Work telephone
• Number of rooms available for homestay students
• Nearest Monash campus, with details on public transport travel time and mode. This information will be used on your host profile.

For example: Walk five minutes to bus stop, take bus #737 to Clayton campus (20 mins) OR Walk 10 minutes to Parkdale station, take train to Caulfield station (10 minutes), walk 1 minute to campus.
