Australia is a diverse country with a well-established international culture. Monash College's Australian campuses are located in and around the capital city of Melbourne, in the southern state of Victoria. 'Marvellous Melbourne' is an enjoyable, exciting and stylish place to learn, live and work. It is safe, well-designed and easy to get around.

A multicultural capital

In Victoria, 45 per cent of people were born overseas, or have a parent who was born overseas. In Melbourne you will hear people speak more than 150 different languages.

A cultural capital

Melbourne is the cultural centre of Victoria and hosts world-class cultural events and festivals each year. The Melbourne International Arts Festival and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival are favourites. Melbourne is famous for its coffee culture and unique laneway cafes. At night, the streets light up with a variety of theatres, bars, night-clubs, restaurants and concerts.

A sporting capital

The city of Melbourne has a population of four million and many of those people absolutely love sport. Major sporting events such as the Australian Open and the Spring Racing Carnival see Melburnians celebrate in the streets.
