There is a lot to organise before you move to a new country. Planning ahead will make the move to Melbourne easier. It will help you to settle in quickly and comfortably when you arrive.
Before you arrive
When you book your flight, remember you must arrive in time to attend enrolment and orientation (this is compulsory). We recommend you arrive a few days earlier to allow some time to adjust to living in a new country.
After you book, let us know when you are arriving and we will meet you at the airport and take you to your accommodation.
We recommend you organise:
- your accommodation
- your student visa
- your budget based on the cost of living
- a laptop (compulsory for Foundation Year, highly recommended for other courses).
Our checklist of things to do before you arrive (pdf, 67KB) will help you prepare and make sure you haven't missed anything.
After you arrive
When you first arrive you may feel a little lonely, but it's ok – you are not alone. At Monash College, we are here to support you at every step of your journey.
Many students in your course will also be in Australia and away from family, for the first time. You will be able to support each other, explore together and make friends that last a lifetime.
