Foundation Year students who participated in the Boite Schools Chorus.
Written by Foundation Year's Globalisation Teacher, David Feith.
On the 16 August, seven Foundation Year students, along with over a hundred other students from other schools in Victoria, participated in the Boite Schools Chorus in the ‘Mai Fali Eh!’ performance at the BMW Edge theatre. The 2012 Boite concert series had a focus on music from Timor Leste, and the Boite Schools Chorus was joined on stage by Coro Loriko, a choir from Timor Leste who came to Australia especially for this concert series.
The Foundation Year students who sang were from six different countries, demonstrating how music and song can bring people together from many countries: Sophie Morgan (Seychelles); Sopheak Ngeth (Mark, Cambodia); Hiromi Kazam (Japan); Hoi Lai Hung (Julanda, China); Chen Yidu (Corinne, China); and Pedro Soares (Timor Leste). The choir sounded great, and it was an exciting event.
