The Have-a-Go-MC-Team being rewarded for their winThe 10,000 Step Challenge started at Monash in the middle of October this year, and seven teams of Monash College staff entered in the pursuit of being healthy, having fun and to win! It was clear from the beginning which team was going to arrive first at the finish line – the Have-a-Go MC Team, with Lorraine Almeida as captain. Nevertheless, the other six teams kept striving to reach the finish line.
The team had a strategy from the beginning – to complete 35,000 steps per day, well above the average. This included one to two hours of vigorous exercise, and team members were even encouraged to drink lots of water which would force them to get out of their seats, and go to the toilet!
Lorraine has commented that the win was only achievable by doing vigorous exercise for an hour and a half each day. She has said she's "so proud of the team for having risen to the challenge".
The Have-a-Go MC team included:
