Students and staff in the Monash College City campus Science lab
Malaysian students enjoyed a ‘speed team’ physics lesson at their recent visit to the Monash College Melbourne City campus.
Foundation Year, Head of Maths and Science, Dr Charles Taylor challenged teams of students from SMKA Naim Lilbanat High Performance School to experiment with their own body movements using motion detectors to match speed and velocity graphs. “The students had an amazing time” said Dr Taylor. “It really demonstrated that serious learning can be both challenging and lots of fun”.
The students finished their physics lesson with some ‘hair raising’ demonstrations of high voltage electricity helping to spark their interest in science. The students then explored the campus and experienced how a purpose-built high-tech learning environment can help students learn anywhere and anytime. The group of 25 students and six teachers from Kelantan, Malaysia visited the campus as part of a study tour to Melbourne sponsored by the Malaysian Ministry of Education.
