A few weeks after the Welcome to Campus & Country event on Monday 21 February and the campus is still buzzing.

Jo Mithen, CEO, recently found time to reflect on the long-awaited event.

"After what has been two of the most challenging years to date for the College,’ Jo said, “I can't adequately express what it meant to see our new home in Docklands alive and bustling with students and staff.

“Watching students file through the doors, eager to explore their new learning spaces, experience a Welcome to Country, and catch up with friends, was a welcomed reminder of exactly what it means to work in education. I also couldn't be more thrilled to finally see the beanbags being put to good use after nearly two years!”

Michael Howie, Student Engagement Coordinator, and MC, said the event exceeded all expectations, both in terms of student numbers and sheer enthusiasm from staff.

“We had many students arrive well before 9am to grab the best seats in the house and collect a free Monash diary and guide to Melbourne,” Michael said.

“A major highlight was the nine Student Leaders, who after months of performing their role online, got their first run at assisting Student Engagement with an on-campus event. Donning blue shirts, our leaders were immediately thrown into the deep end and often became go-to information points for new students.”

As mentioned, our Student Leaders played an important role in managing the event including Jay Zhu, Foundation Year student. “The event was a great success and I really enjoyed beginning the school week, the Welcome to Country ceremony, scavenger hunt and finishing it off with the movie night. I’m excited to be back on campus and I felt very happy to meet my teachers face to face and talk to them!” Jay said.
