Monash’s leading education initiative
In a Monash collaboration, our College welcomed 50 Saudi teachers and principals last month as part of the Building Leadership for Change through School Immersion project.
Monash was one of three Australian universities to be chosen for the project and received the highest number of participants.
The project is a five-year initiative and part of Saudi Arabia’s National Transformation Plan 2030 which aims to transform school education across the Kingdom by exposing Saudi teachers to best practice in teaching and learning around the world.
A collaborative initiative
The collaboration between our College and the Faculty of Education at Monash University follows several months of successful discussions and planning with the Monash Professional Pathways' Kotaro Ito and Business Development team.
"This initiative is part of the ongoing engagement to establish a productive relationship with the Faculty has led to this project," said Kotaro.
"The project supports the faculty's international engagement, English Language's strategic priority of enhancing its teacher development capability, and the diversity agenda through integration of the participants in the Monash English course."
About the program
The students will improve their English language skills in Monash English for ten weeks. This will be followed by two weeks of customised English aimed at improving their communication skills in related to teaching, learning and education. This program has been designed by Monash English Teacher Developer Mark Rooney
The participants will then move on to 12 weeks of immersion in schools around Melbourne and have weekly mentoring and coaching from Monash's Education Faculty.
The participants will then take the experience, skills and knowledge acquired back to Saudi Arabia to make a real difference to their own schools.
