Where to live

Working out where to live is an important step. It’s not something you can leave until you arrive in Melbourne!

There are three main types of accommodation. Read more about them before deciding which accommodation option is right for you.

WHEN CHOOSING YOUR ACCOMMODATION CONSIDER…

Your age

If you will be younger than 18 when you first arrive to start at Monash College you'll need to stay in an approved accommodation for under age students. Our approved accommodation providers are suited to younger students and offer more support and security. Some options include apartment style living located within a short travel journey to our Docklands campus.

Style of living

Is space important to you? Do you like living with others and sharing meals? Do you want to meet lots of other students? Each accommodation option offers different levels of independence, interaction and support. Choose the one that best suits you.

Campus location

Finding accommodation that’s close to our Docklands campus will be most convenient and will help you get to class on time. Our preferred city accommodation providers offer a number of properties that are located within a short tram ride to our campus. If you like the idea of living in a family environment in the suburbs surrounding the city or prefer the flexibility of a short- or longer-term option, homestay may be more suitable for you.

Renting privately or House-sharing is an attractive option for some students. Make sure to read about important precautionary steps you should observe to avoid scammers that are often imitating legitimate parties.

Short-term accommodations

If you need temporary accommodation upon your arrival, we’ve included list of providers that offer discounted rates to Monash students, their families and visitors. Contact those that interest you directly to make a booking.
