Monash University Foundation Year Bonus Points 2026
Understanding bonus points
There are two different types of bonus points available in Foundation Year, and it is important to understand how they are applied:
- Additional unit bonus points are included in the calculation of your final Foundation Year score and will appear on your official academic transcripts issued by Monash College.
Students may choose to enrol in an additional (5th) unit in a semester, completing up to 10 units across the program. In this case, the final score is still calculated using the top eight unit scores, with bonus points applied by adding 1.25% of the score for each additional unit passed (up to a maximum of two units).
- Destination degree (faculty-specific) bonus points may be awarded for certain courses based on your unit choices and performance. These bonus points are applied solely for admissions purposes to the specific courses and will not be reflected on official academic transcripts issued by Monash College. This process does not apply to any other Monash undergraduate courses.
Before making decisions about an increased study load or selecting units based on potential bonus points, students are strongly encouraged to consult with a Careers and Transition Advisor. This ensures unit choices align with individual strengths, academic goals, and overall performance.

Destination degree (faculty-specific) bonus points
Foundation Year students may be eligible to receive bonus points for selected destination degrees, depending on their unit choices and academic performance. These bonus points are applied solely for admissions purposes to the specific courses and will not be reflected on official academic transcripts issued by Monash College. This process does not apply to any other Monash undergraduate courses.
Students are strongly encouraged to consult with a Careers and Transition Advisor when selecting units to ensure their choices align with their strengths and academic goals. While some units may offer access to bonus points, it is important to choose units that best support overall performance and success, rather than selecting more challenging options solely for potential bonus point eligibility.
