Introductory Academic Program

Gain the Monash Advantage and transition to University life with confidence

You’ve earned your place at Monash University.
Now give yourself the advantage of starting strong.

The Introductory Academic Program (IAP) is a five-week intensive program designed exclusively for international students who already hold a full offer to Monash University. IAP helps you transition into university life by building academic confidence, introducing Australian university culture, and developing essential learning skills. By completing IAP, you will enter university life feeling already prepared, connected, capable – before semester begins.

Why take IAP?

Starting university in a new country is exciting, however, it can also be overwhelming. In the very first few weeks of study, you will be exposed to different expectations, new academic systems, and independent learning. IAP provides reassurance, helps you feel more confident and prepared, and excited to begin your study at Monash rather than spending the first semester figuring things out.

With IAP, you will gain a study advantage by:

  • writing a university-level, research-based assignment before your classes begin
  • understanding exactly what Monash lecturers expect
  • learning how to avoid plagiarism and use academic sources confidently
  • building the study habits needed for independent learning
  • feeling prepared, not pressured, from your first week
  • developing confidence in the use of GenAI for your academic studies.

Who is this program for?

IAP is designed for students who:

  • already have a full offer to Monash University
  • meet the academic and English entry requirements
  • want to excel not just pass.

If you want to start your degree with confidence and clarity, this program is for you.
