Monash Advanced Preparation Program
The Monash Advanced Preparation Program (MAPP) offers a direct, accelerated pathway into your preferred Monash University undergraduate degree. Designed for successful Year 12 graduates (or other approved qualifications) who narrowly miss direct undergraduate entry, this intensive 16-week program builds your academic readiness through targeted learning and personalised support.
Delivered face-to-face in a supportive learning environment, the program is designed to give you the best possible start to your Monash journey.
This course is only available to international students.

What you’ll learn
Through the Monash Advanced Preparation Program, you’ll deepen your knowledge in key subject areas and develop essential university skills, including how to:
- Communicate effectively in English
- Think critically and solve problems
- Learn independently and collaboratively
- Manage time responsibly and effectively
You will complete four units:
- One compulsory unit in Introduction to Academic Communication, and
- Three units aligned with your undergraduate destination degree, selected from your chosen stream.
Learning is delivered through a mix of engaging tutorials, independent and collaborative learning, and real-world, competency-based assessments embedded throughout the semester.

What are the entry requirements?
To be accepted into this course, you must be at least 16 years and 7 months of age at the time of enrolment (other conditions apply). You must also meet the academic and English entry requirements.
To be eligible for entry into the Monash Advanced Preparation Program, you must have successfully completed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) with an ATAR of 55, or equivalent.

To be eligible for entry into this course, you must meet a minimum study score of 23 in any VCE English subject (Units 3 & 4) or equivalent, or meet the required scores in a Monash-approved English test as follows:

Additional information
- If your English test scores do not meet the minimum requirements, you may wish to consider enrolling in a Monash English course to help you meet the entry standard.
- English test results must be completed within three years prior to your Monash course start date (other conditions may apply).
- If you have completed multiple English measures, the highest valid measure will be considered.
- Monash University reserves the right to request an additional English test to confirm you meet the English entry requirements.
- International students must also meet the English language requirements set by the Australian Department of Home Affairs, which may differ from Monash University requirements.

Entry into a Monash University undergraduate destination degree
Upon successful completion of the Monash Advanced Preparation Program and meeting the required academic score and any applicable prerequisites, you’ll gain guaranteed entry into the first year of your chosen Monash University undergraduate degree (exclusions apply).

To be eligible for university entry, you must also:
- Be at least 17 years of age at the time of enrolment in your Monash University undergraduate destination degree.
- Meet any specific age requirements for degrees that include clinical placements.
If you do not meet the minimum age requirements at the time of enrolment, you may be offered a deferred place until you become eligible. Please ensure you review the minimum age requirements of your chosen Monash University undergraduate destination degree, particularly those with mandatory requirements for clinical placements.
