Why is Monash smoke-free?
Monash College supports the health of our students, staff, contractors and visitors. There is clear evidence to show that smoke-free environments increase the rate of quitting and reduce the amount of people taking up smoking. This is part of a broader commitment by all Victorian universities and education providers to provide healthier smoke-free environments.
What products are prohibited?
Smoking of any material or use of e-cigarettes, vapes or similar devices is prohibited at Monash College.
Where can I go if I want to smoke?
If you wish to smoke, the designated smoking areas include the Docklands Community Hub Reserve and Village Street (via the stairs on Collins Street). Please follow traffic signals when crossing the busy street, and watch for slippery stairs in wet weather.
What is considered to be the campus?
The 750 Collins Street campus is all internal areas of the building and any external area up until the point of the public footpath.
What should I do if I see someone smoking on campus?
You are encouraged to respectfully and politely remind smokers the College has a smoke-free policy and they must go off-campus to a quieter area, such as the park, if they wish to smoke.
