Major Injury

  • Care for patient and call for First Aid assistance. Call Security on 333 or 9905 53333 for a trained First Aider to attend the scene.
  • Send someone to dial the Ambulance Service: (0) 000.
  • Provide the following information:
    • Their name
    • Nature of emergency
    • Their age/gender
    • Location (campus, building, level, room)
    • State of consciousness
    • Number and names of persons involved
    • Any other relevant information e.g., breathing, bleeding, chest pains, etc.
  • Notify Security on 333 or 9905 53333 to escort ambulance.
  • Ensure area is clear for medical personnel.
  • The attending First Aider will escalate the incident to the relevant Director and ensure the patient receives appropriate follow-up welfare support.
  • IMPORTANT: The attending First Aider is required to complete the Online Hazard and Incident Report via S.A.R.A.H.

Minor Injury

  • Seek assistance from a local First Aider or Security. Call Security on 333 or 9905 53333 for First Aid assistance.
  • Contact First Aid Officer within building for treatment.
  • The attending First Aider will arrange to send injured person to a local medical centre or hospital emergency ward if required.

Automated External Defibrillators (AED)

  • AED locations can be obtained from Security on 333 or 9905 53333, or from the First Aid page on the staff intranet.
  • AED locations are also displayed on all evacuation diagrams.
  • This sign indicates Defibrillator locations.

IMPORTANT: Any staff, student, or First Aider involved in attending to any injuries on campus should take care of their own mental health following a serious incident by debriefing with colleagues or seeking support via EAP.
