Evolving together: Global Converge26 extends teaching excellence across our international partner network

This year, Monash College extended Converge – our annual teaching and learning conference – beyond Melbourne for the first time, taking the Evolution theme directly to our international partner network at Global Converge26.

Sunway College in Kuala Lumpur and Tianhua College in Shanghai were the inaugural partners to host Global Converge, which were locally delivered events that brought educators together to share teaching practice, celebrate innovation and strengthen connections across the Monash College global community.

Global Converge26: Tianhua College was held on Friday 29 May 2026, followed by Global Converge26: Sunway College on Thursday 4 June 2026. Each event featured a welcome and contextual introduction aligned to the Evolution theme, alongside partner-led practice showcases highlighting regional teaching approaches.

Colleagues from Sunway College delved into three pillars of evolution: evolution of student that explored how Gen Z and Gen Alpha students learn, think, cope and aspire; evolution of the educator that focused on pedagogical innovation and professional growth; and evolution of institutional culture that covered collaboration, digital transformation, wellbeing and leadership agility. Panel discussions at both events explored how teaching practice continues to evolve across our global network.

Global Converge is a direct expression of Monash College's promise to its international partners: to broaden access to a world-class Monash University education by working together, evolving together, and building one connected global education community. Through the Evolution pillars of evolving educators, evolving student experience, evolving systems and evolving together, Sunway College and Tianhua College educators showcased the innovation and insight that underpin a seamless, high-quality student experience, no matter where our students study.

Global Converge26 connected directly to the flagship Converge26 Evolution conference, held in Melbourne on Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 August 2026, where more than 300 College staff, international partners and senior delegates came together to continue the global dialogue on teaching and learning. It was an opportunity for our inaugural participating partners to play back some of their learning at their institutions with College educators and staff. Their breakout sessions were From Student Journey to Student Success: Designing Support for International Pathway Students (by Tianhua College) and Harnessing the Power of Diversity – Reimagining Engagement and Transition through Interdisciplinary Teaching and Learning (by Sunway College). A third partner – Universal College Lanka – presented their session Building Lasting Connections: Connections Across the Student Journey.
