Monash College welcomes international partners for second annual forum
Monash College recently hosted its second Monash University and Monash College International Partners Forum, welcoming senior delegates and academic leaders from across our international partner network to the Monash University Clayton campus and the Monash University Melbourne City Campus.
Held from Sunday 2 to Thursday 6 August 2026, the forum brought together College and University leaders with representatives from our international partners across the Asia-Pacific region, including Sunway College, Universal College Lanka (UCL), Universal College Bangladesh (UCBD), Tianhua College, BELTEI International University, New Oriental Vision Overseas (NOVO) and Singapore Institute of Management (SIM).
Once again, the forum was designed to demonstrate the dynamism of an excellent Monash education – the intersections of how we partner, operate and teach. Together, with our partners, we created a future-focused and blossoming community of practice to support a robust global dialogue of teaching and learning.
A week of connection and collaboration
The forum's program spanned five days of community building. The visiting delegates received a formal Monash University welcome by Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Sharon Pickering then delved into two emerging areas shaping global higher education – Artificial Intelligence by Chief AI Governance Officer Michael Mintrom and academic integrity practices by University Registrar Dr Helen Gniel. At Converge – our annual teaching and learning conference – partners gained a deeper sectoral understanding of AI by an insightful, future-focused and values-based keynote presentation by Professor Phillip Dawson, Co-Director of the Centre for Research in Assessment and Digital Learning (CRADLE), Deakin University.
One of the main ambitions of the forum was to consider and enact a seamless Monash student experience from day 1 of the education journey, which included the announcement of the new Monash Study Grants and Awards for Offshore Students for 2027, which includes the increase of the offshore study grant to AUD 10,000 and the introduction of a new Monash College Partners Valedictorian Award.
Delivering on our promise together
Across the week, delegates explored the strength of Monash's global alumni network, the shared commitment to excellent pathways education and the opportunities and challenges of delivering a distinctive student experience in each market.
The forum reaffirmed Monash College's founding purpose: to establish direct pathways, onshore and offshore, to the University, and to be an enabler of a seamless, connected and immersive student experience. It's a purpose that sits at the core of our Student Promise – ensuring every student is prepared for academic, social, wellbeing and career success, for university and beyond.
